The story
Can surviving become living?
Dr Priya Chandran entered an arranged marriage believing that love for her family, respect for tradition and doing the “right” thing would be enough. By the following day, the marriage was over—but the fear, anger and unanswered questions remained.
Back at work in an East London renal ward, Priya cares for patients fighting to stay alive while concealing how close she is to breaking.
Then her path crosses with Dr Daniele Mancini—an A&E doctor, martial artist and man carrying a private burden of his own. In a forgotten open-air car park, away from hospital corridors and family expectations, training becomes a language. Through breath, movement, falling and standing again, Priya begins to reclaim ownership of her body and her choices.
Priya is not waiting to be rescued. She is learning that surviving was only the beginning.
Themes in Right Now
Healing, self-care and finding your own way
Right Now explores mental health and emotional wellbeing through Priya’s experience of recovery after trauma. Healing unfolds unevenly through her choices, relationships and small moments of trust.
Self-care takes everyday forms: noticing a breath, making room for gentle movement, accepting companionship and setting a boundary. The story invites reflection on self-compassion, personal choice and the hope of beginning again.
These themes continue in the optional reading journal, the A Little Heart kindness game and the themed gallery experiences:
- Healing & self-care — breath, care and small steps towards recovery.
- Love & connection — family, friendship and quiet companionship.
- Strength & boundaries — movement, personal choice and standing again.
- Hope & renewal — making room for what the next moment might hold.
